The hills are Alive....with the sound of Christmas. I noticed today while I was driving home from work all the beautiful lights scattered across Utah Valley. It was breath taking. You could see the outline of all the houses that sit up on the hills, and as you look across the lake you can see more lights! I never appreciated Christmas lights and the Holiday spirit than I did at the moment. I didn't want to let the moment pass on by, so I took my time driving home and waited maybe a little to long at all the stop signs. When you take the time that you have in front of you and try and hold it in your hands for more than a second, you begin to ponder and you actually take a step back and almost pause that moment. Christmas lights, what do they have to do with Christmas, Jesus, and Santa? I didn't understand, why don't we put up lights for the 4Th of July, or even Halloween? Why Christmas? As I was soaking in the sights around me it was then that I realized what it was or why it was. Well, actually, I couldn't think of anything it had to do with Santa, and believe me, I tried to fit him in to the picture. When you look at all the lights, you are immediately filled with happiness, some lights are so grandeur they make you stare in awe. That is how I picture it when Christ comes again. It will be such a sight, words cannot describe. That is how I felt as I looked across the Valley. So, I concluded that Christmas Lights represent Christ. I'm sure most people never thought of that. I mean sure, you can put up lights and not think of Christ, not once during the Holiday season. I believe there is a reason for everything, so there has to be a reason why we put up lights. So, maybe you should stop, take the moment, look around you and ponder this Holiday season. What is it all for? Is it worth all the frozen fingers, long lines, hours in the kitchen, pine needles? I submit that it is. Happy Holidays!
