Have you ever had one of those days where your body just doesn't want to move? No matter what you tell it or what you feed it, its not going to perform the way you want it to. Well, today was one of those days. It's been so nice outside so I do most of my running along the Provo trail up in to the canyon. Interestingly enough, I see the same people on the trail everyday, at the same time, we obviously think alike. I am becoming good friends with some of them, even their dogs. Anyway, I am training for this.

I cannot believe I actually signed up for it. I'm really excited, when I don't think about training. Training is the hardest part of the entire thing. My knees start to swell if I don't ice them right after, and my shins cramp up as well. However, I have found that if I run barefoot all the pain goes away and I don't have to ice after a long run. I have started taking my shoes off on the last mile/ half mile of all my runs. Running barefoot is AMAZING!! I encourage all you avid runners to do your research on the benefits of running barefoot and try it out. Be careful though not to run to far at first or your feet will be all blistered. The best thing about training for the half is the love I have developed with running and nature. I seriously LOVE running, more than ever. I think the whole barefoot thing has a big part in that. The canyon is beautiful at this time of year as well. I sometimes run without my ipod and am shocked at all the birds singing! Amazing what an ipod can distract you from. There ya go! Thats my little update! Ready, Set, RUN!!!!
